On May 23, 2026, VYAS volunteers participated in a special cultural collaboration event celebrating the partnership between local First Nations artists and the wider community. Through art, storytelling, and meaningful design, the event highlighted the importance of cultural exchange, creativity, and mutual respect while showcasing a collaborative collection inspired by Indigenous culture.
One highlight of the event was the launch of a collaborative fridge magnet collection featuring artwork created by First Nations artists. The designs celebrated Indigenous culture and transformed everyday objects into meaningful pieces that share stories, traditions, and artistic expression with the wider community.
Throughout the event, VYAS youth volunteers welcomed guests, assisted with registration, provided event support, and helped create a warm and inclusive atmosphere for participants. Their enthusiasm and teamwork ensured that visitors could fully enjoy the cultural activities and artistic presentations throughout the day.
The event also provided youth volunteers with a valuable opportunity to learn directly from First Nations artists and gain a deeper appreciation for Indigenous traditions, artistic expression, and the stories reflected in each design. Through meaningful cultural exchange, participants were encouraged to celebrate diversity, build mutual understanding, and recognize the important role that art plays in connecting people across cultures.
