Vancouver, BC – December 15, 2023 – In a groundbreaking initiative for 2024, VYAS has joined hands with the Hand in Hand Foundation for Autistic Adolescents (HFAA) to launch the VYAS&HFAA Craft Workshop, a specialized program designed for adolescents with disabilities, particularly those with autism and other special needs. This project not only continues our commitment to youth mental health but also provides a warm and loving platform for special-needs teenagers to connect and learn.
Having successfully completed three phases, this new project emphasizes one-on-one interaction. Through art and craft activities, we aim to enhance the manual and communication skills of these adolescents, preparing them for a smoother transition into society. In addition to continuing activities like clay modeling and dried flower arrangements, 2024 will see the addition of new workshops such as artistic weaving, resin crafting, and creative projects like eco-friendly bags, T-shirts, and mugs, as well as practical, life-oriented handicrafts.
The crafted pieces by these children may also serve a philanthropic purpose, aiding those in need. We believe that every child, regardless of their challenges, is unique and precious, and every family deserves respect and support.
Our aim is to empower children with autism and other special needs, helping them participate in collective social activities, integrate into societal life, and continuously improve in language communication, coordination, and emotional well-being through craft projects. Simultaneously, we aspire to raise awareness and concern for children with autism and special needs.
We welcome volunteers and compassionate individuals who share our vision to join us. Together, let's shed light on the challenges these children face and collectively create a more inclusive and supportive social environment.
